Everyday Do One Thing That Scares You.
This is a philosophy that drives West African born actor and entrepreneur, Karibi Fubara, and the journey that has brought him to Brooklyn, U.S.A. is one that is as diverse as the roles he takes on.
In February of 2003, he co-founded the media and talent management firm, Datoala Michael, which focuses on music, film and visual arts. As a Principal, he has functional responsibility for media relations and operations and industry responsibility for music. Among several other projects, Datoala Michael is currently managing several singer-songwriters and producing
a documentary on Hip Hop in Ghana called HomeGrown that completed principal
photography during the summer 2003.
In addition to running his own company, Karibi's career as an actor has taken him from the theatrical stage to the world of film and television, and commercial print. Whether in the role of The Son, in Noble Laureate, Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author, or as a recurring (under-five) role on the ABC daytime soap "One Life to Live," his passion is to tell the story that makes us all human.
Before moving to New York in 1999, he attended The Ohio State University on an academic scholarship and majored in chemical engineering. While there, he interned for two summers as an R&D and process engineer with Wellman Inc., a Carolina based Textile Company. Karibi credits his parents, six siblings, and his travels as a youth for the balance between his artistic and business worlds. As he continues to garner acclaim, one thing remains true; by overcoming what scares him, Karibi is able to unlock his God given talent.
