| Founded and co-led by Karibi
Fubara and Laurence
Latimer, Dataola Michael (DM) is the formalization of a relationship that began nearly a decade ago when the two met while attending The Ohio State University. After separately relocating to New York City to pursue very different careers, Karibi and Laurence began supporting each other’s projects and deepening their friendship and professional relationship.
Since 2002, the two have executive produced a short film, His/Herstory, developed, produced and directed a short film, Germinate, and produced the album release concert for Cody ChesnuTT. After their initial success, Karibi and Laurence decided to focus their efforts and solidify their professional relationship. They formed Datoala Michael in early 2003. With complimentary skill sets, the two bring a seasoned and comprehensive perspective to each of the firm’s artists and projects.
To complement the skills of the founding partners, DM works with a broad spectrum of industry professionals, including publicists and public relations specialists, marketers, stylists, music and film producers, photographers, lawyers, accountants, and financiers. These relationships allow DM to offer a full range of services to the artist that they work with.
Currently, the firm manages several singer-songwriters and is producing a documentary, HomeGrown: Hip Hop in Ghana.
